; LifeCircles COVID-19 Update – July 2020. – LifeCircles PACE

A letter from our Executive Director.

Greetings LifeCircles participants, care partners & families:

I hope you are enjoying all the sunshine that we’re experiencing! Since our state eased some of the restrictions of the “Stay home. Stay safe.” order, we’ve been working with state & local authorities to assess our infection rates and risk levels. Unfortunately, every region in Michigan has seen an uptick in new COVID-19 cases.

On July 10, 2020 Governor Whitmer signed executive order 2020-147, which requires individuals to wear a face covering whenever they are in an indoor public space. It also requires the use of face coverings in crowded outdoor spaces. Most significantly, the order requires any business that is open to the public to refuse entry or service to people who refuse to wear a face covering. Governors in the states of Kansas, Maine, Nevada, Pennsylvania, and Washington have imposed similar requirements on businesses. Several other states have imposed new shut down orders and travel restrictions.

Our hope is that consistent mask wearing by everyone in Michigan will reduce our infection rates. There is scientific evidence that correctly wearing masks is an effective way of controlling the spread of infection. Avoiding places where many people congregate is also very important. LifeCircles has experienced very few COVID-19 infenctions for our participants, and we believe this is because you are able to remin in your homes and not exposed to people who may have COVID-19.

Since risk of infection remains quite high, LifeCircles is unable to fully re-open day center services. Home Care services will continue to be for essential visits only. Most of our team members are still working remotely. We know how difficult it is to stay home. I wish I could give you a specific date when this will be over, but the health and safety of you and your families, as well as our team members and their families is our highest priority.

Please wear masks when interacting with other people, wash your hands frequently, don’t go into public gatherings, and call us if you are experiencing new problems or health concerns. If you have been with someone with COVID-19 please let us know right away, even if you don’t have symptoms.

We are watching COVID data closely and will continue to adjust our practice accordingly. As we live through this pandemic together, I am proud of the LifeCircles team and their commitment to caring for you in new ways. It is not easy, but we will all come out of this stronger. Thank you for your wisdom & patience!

Sincerely,

Luke Reynolds,

Executive Director
